Youth Worker Program

Youth Workers provide support to youth which includes crisis intervention, behavior management and life skills training. MCFD referral only.

Vision: The Youth Worker Program works to assist Youth who are between 16-19 years old, who are referred by the Ministry of Children and Family development (MCFD) and Métis Family Services.

Program Mandate:

The Youth Worker Program works to assist Youth who are between the ages of 16 and 19 who are referred by the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) and Métis Family Services.

Youth Benefits:

• Helping youth develop short and long term goals.

• Helping youth develop a sense of self identity. Assist in obtaining Identification (Birth Certificate, Social Insurance Number and BCID).

• Helping youth decide if they prefer accessing Mainstream or Aboriginal Services

• Assisting youth with finding safe and suitable housing and helping them learn to live inde-pendently.

• Helping youth establish social skills and healthy boundaries.

• Connecting youth to cultural activities that help them to identify with cultural awareness.

• Referring youth to community resources (employment programs, life skills, counseling and education).
